For far too long the political leaders in both parties have
only paid attention to those who have their own interests, the most money, and
have ignored the will of the people. For far too long, money has been the mover
and shaker in Washington and whoever toes the party line keeps the power in
Washington. It does not seem to matter
how good a particular candidate is, if he or she has ideas of true conservatism
and a love and respect for the Constitution, that person has been subject to
derailment by the powers-that-be.
Have Constitutional Conservatives done well in promoting
major challengers to the good ol' boys of the two parties? Somewhat in the Senate, a few in Congress,
but on a whole, there just haven’t been enough victories to make serious change
happen. We must change this. We must reclaim our political system to the
way it was meant to be. Money talks and so does power, but there must be change
in the ways of politics or we the people will lose our nation.
For true change to happen, it will be up to we the people-
by sending serious Constitutional Conservatives as our representatives to
Washington and demanding term limits.
We must take the name Constitutional Conservative because the word “conservative”
has been used too much as another name for the GOP and most of us know that for
the past few decades there has been very little true conservatism in the
Republican party. Few also seem to care
little about the Constitution and there seems to be many conservative groups
who align themselves too much with the Republican Party because it has meant
money donations and a chance to sit at the table with big political ties. Constitutional Conservatives must be
discerning when it comes to supporting small “c” conservatives who speak the
right words, yet are backed by the GOP.
We must promote organizations and candidates who actually stand on
principal when the political winds are blowing another way or when the powers
in Washington claim that we need a bigger tent.
We will not have support from the Republican Party. They have proven that for at least the last 8
years when they have fought against or refused to help with funding campaigns
of real candidates. When they have done
redistricting as in the case of Allen West,
withheld funding to Michele Bachmann who was up against serious money
from the opposition, and the same with
Sharron Angle who had no GOP support in her serious race against career
politician Harry Reid. We saw decent
conservative voices shut down during the past election cycle until the GOP
party pick Mitt who won the Republican Primaries. We saw the same the previous election cycle
with McCain.
Now Karl Rove has declared, "war" on the Tea Party
and in effect, any party which holds Constitutionally minded Conservative
ideals. It looks like Rove along with
big time donors of the Republican Party have created the 'Conservative Victory
Project'. Sounds like a nice name right? Got the word 'Conservative' in it, so it must
be good, right?
It appears that the group will, in the words of the New York
Times, “recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from
challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican
leaders worry could complicate the party’s effort to win control of the
Senate.” Interesting, but isn't that
what the GOP has been doing for at least the past 10 years? Not only with Senate races but Congressional
seats and the Presidential campaigns as well.
The establishment crowd like Rove have poured millions upon millions of
dollars- much of it donated by people believing the Republican Party was worth
donating to, to spend on and train candidates who have been
"severely" conservative in their rhetoric but not in their actions.
Rove and others would do well to remember that it was the
Tea Party movement, made up of sick and tired every day folks, which brought a
victory to the Republican Party in the 2010 Congressional races. Remember or not, it doesn't seem to matter to
the GOP big boys. What matters is the
lukewarm smooth politicians who keep the power for the party and the money
flowing. This is evident with past party
picks and with Rove and his new group plans to challenge sitting Conservative
Congressmen and Senators.
They do this under the guise as supporting the most
conservative person who "can win".
This, pardon the bluntness, is pure malarkey. Their historic lack of supporting true
Conservative individuals informs us that they wouldn't know if one could win or
not. Thank God, that Michele Bachmann
won her seat, no thanks to the GOP. Who
knows how things would have gone if the party had had fully backed and
supported Allen West or Mia Love, the newcomer from Utah? If they had have backed Sharron Angle in
2008, who was within a few thousand votes of getting rid of Harry Reid. The same Reid, who has done everything in his
power as Senate Majority Leader to keep from passing a budget for over three
years, and who would never allow impeachment hearings against the Obama
administration for Fast and Furious or Benghazi and numerous other dangerous
and nefarious actions.
Rove and others like him could care less about a
Constitutional Conservative government. All they are concerned with is preserving
their own power and prestige. It will be
truly up to the common people of this nation to seek, support and work towards
nominating and electing serious, hardworking everyday people who love the
Constitution and real Conservatism for political office- locally, State level
and national governance. We must do a
lot of work to show that the people are serious about changing things in both
parties and in Washington.
Right now, too many people with opportunities to spread the
Constitutional conservative message are still hoping for change within the
GOP. Those who love the Constitution,
yet are still hoping to fight within the GOP are not paying any mind to third
party ideas, tells us that we are in this ourselves. Until we change things enough that folks like
Limbaugh, Levin, Palin and others will finally start to pay attention, because
we will someday be too big to ignore.
